  • I am not a vet, vet nurse, tech or student, can I join? Can I bring my partner, family or friends?

Yes! Non-vet professionals are always welcome in our courses/missions. Join us for every breakfast, lunch, dinner and activities, and enjoy the gorgeous beaches while your friend is having lectures. See the prices below. The principle is the same for everyone: the ticket covers your expenses and a donation towards the sterilisation campaign.

  • Why are we doing this course?

To fundraise for a neuter campaign for street dogs and cats, and those belonging to indigenous families of low income. This is done through working together with the Ecuadorian charity Colitas de La Calle. All profits from the Galapagos course will be used towards neutering and treating these animals (who don't deserve less than the pets we have at home!) - the more tickets we sell, the more community dogs we neuter. The organiser (not attending the course) and speakers are working pro-bono. A huge thank you to our partners for supporting this meaningful cause: SPVS, Vetted Recruitment, Univets Global.

  • Why are the Galapagos called the ''Enchanted Islands''?

The Galapagos are a unique place on Earth, where animals are not scared of humans and swim around you. Sea lions, giant tortoises, penguins, the only location where you can see marine iguanas (yes, swimming iguanas!) and several other species. The Galapagos were the origin of Darwin's theory of evolution and remain a living laboratory for scientists today. An INCREDIBLE place you must visit at least once in your life!

  • Flight tips:

To fly to the Galapagos, you always need to stop in Quito or Guayaquil (Ecuador). There are no international flights that fly direct to the Galapagos. On www.skyscanner.net check flights to Quito and Guayaquil. I strongly recommend that you also see all the direct flights to Quito here (from Miami, NY, Atlanta, Houston, Madrid...) and all the direct flights to Guayaquil here. From Quito and Guayaquil, only Latam and Avianca fly to the Galapagos.

This is often the best combination to increase your time on the islands:

1. fly to Guayaquil (from here it's a 1h50 flight to San Cristobal) or Quito (from here it's a 3h30 flight to San Cristobal);

2. then fly to San Cristobal (Galapagos);

3. enjoy your course!

4. fly from Seymour airport (Galapagos) into Guayaquil or Quito.

Airlines flying from Europe include Avianca (stops in Bogota), KLM (from Amsterdam), Iberia (from Madrid), Air Europa (from Madrid) and British Airways (from Madrid). If you have difficulty finding flights, you can ask a travel agent to find them for you; we are experienced travellers and can help those who already bought a course ticket.

  • Transport inside the Galapagos:

Ohana will organise transport inside the islands, including the flight from San Cristobal (island 1) to Isabela (island 2). There are 2 airlines flying between these two islands: Emetebe and ESAV. Each person is responsible to pay for their flight (from £111 per person). Instead of the 40min flight, you can take 2 ferries: cheaper (£55) but the two ferries take 5h.

  • What are the room options/prices?

Room for 3 people (3 single beds, or 1 double and 1 single; private bathroom):

Vet or vet nurse/tech: £1350 if only attending the course; or 1200 if also attending 1 or 2 weeks of the Neuter Campaign (which is priced separately).

Non-vet professional or student: £1200 if only attending the course; or 1090 if also attending the Campaign (priced separately).

Room for 2 people (2 single beds, or 1 double; private bathroom):
Vet or vet nurse/tech: £1650 if only attending the course; or 1500 if also attending the Neuter Campaign (which is priced separately).

Non-vet professional or student: £1500 if only attending the course; or 1390 if also attending the Campaign (priced separately).

Private room for 1 person (one double bed; private bathroom):

Vet or vet nurse/tech: £1999 if only attending the course; or 1850 if also attending the Neuter Campaign (which is priced separately).

Non-vet professional or student: £1850 if only attending the course; or 1750 if also attending the Campaign (priced separately).

The hotels don't have single rooms, so ''Private rooms for 1'' are in fact ''Rooms for 2'' made private for one person, which explains the increased cost (we could be selling two tickets instead of one). If you want to lower the cost, invite a friend to share a room.

👉 You might have reservations about sharing a room, but this always resolves after the first night in our courses :) Our courses are designed in a way that most participants become friends soon after the course starts, so don't be scared to share. Same gender in shared rooms. You will also spend little time in the room, you will spend the days learning, at the beach and snorkeling with sea lions!

  • Where can I see footage from previous courses?

Our 2024 courses and missions were INCREDIBLE and you can see pictures in the highlight folders 'Azores', 'Africa' and 'Ericeira' on our instagram @ohana.animalcharity. We also have a highlight folder called 'Galapagos' with videos of the trip I took there to organise this course. The easiest way to view these if you don't have insta is to create an account (it takes seconds) or ask a friend to use their account for a minute.

  • Are the tickets or deposit refundable?

They are not, as we had to pay expenses in advance and these are not refundable to us. But you can transfer the ticket to a friend, so your money won't be lost! Remember that all money received will be used to treat and neuter strays.

  • What are the payment options?

Google pay, debit card or transfer. A wire/bank transfer results in more money for the animals (compared with payment via the website) because there are no fees. See the details to transfer. We can reserve a ticket when you pay a 50% deposit.
