How you can help OHANA

Share our posts

A fast, easy and powerful way to help!

Share our Instagram posts on Insta, Facebook (including groups), Tiktok, whatssapp groups, and mailing lists at your vet hospital/vet school.

Volunteer at our neuter campaigns

Each person covers own travel costs, we're proud that 100% of the money OHANA gets truly goes to animals!

Volunteering is the act of giving of oneself, without expecting something in return.

If costs are a concern, volunteer closer to home where a flight/hotel are not necessary.

Sign up for our courses

Speakers and organisers work pro-bono, 100% of profits are used to help animals.

Sponsor our courses/missions

Your help will be advertised on our website, emails and social media.

Fundraise

Organise a hike, dog walking, bike ride, barbecue, cake sale, concert, a race, sports day, karaoke, bingo, quiz night, paintball, CPD etc.

Fundraise on your birthday

A fundraiser is quick to create on Instagram, Facebook, Gofundme or Justgiving.

Organise a birthday party, and tell your family & friends this year you don't want presents :)

Only Vet Specialists (Diplomates).

Get supplies for the animals!

Contact vet hospitals, pharmaceuticals & food manufacturers to gather drugs, medical supplies or food. The charities we support are in São Tomé (Africa), Porto & Azores (Portugal), Otavalo (Ecuador) and Lima (Peru). We don't have a physical space or people coming & going - if you want to help, that will include you finding a courier and posting the suppliers.

Toys for African children!

Most children of São Tomé e Príncipe don't have ANY toys - they fight for a football.

Gather dolls, colouring books/pencils and footballs (empty to save space, they can be filled up with air over there).

Lisbon is the gateway to São Tomé; when you post the toys to Lisbon, Teresa from Insta account @takecair can help taking them to São Tomé.

Donate

£200 would feed 10 dogs for a month.

£2000 would spay 50 dogs, preventing 5000 unwanted puppies being born on the street.

If you have something else in mind, email us.

How you can help animals

Foster

Shelters are scary places. Foster to help a dog or cat feel safe, and become adoptable.

Most shelters cover all expenses (food, veterinary care)

Volunteer at your local shelter

Millions of dogs and cats live in a cage almost 24h/day and look forward for 15min with you💔

Don't ignore animal suffering

If you see a dog on a chain, the owner may simply be doing what they've always known.

A kind discussion could encourage them to take the dog out for a walk every day.

Include your pet in your will

Ask a relative to look after your pet, and include them both in your will - don't send your pet to a shelter💔

How can people leave everything to their family and nothing to the pets? Pets are family too!

Include a charity in your will

Your passion for animals can continue to make a difference, what a great way to leave a memory of your life!

Don't shop. Adopt!

You save 2 lives - the dog you got from the shelter, and the street dog who can now be rescued into that available kennel!

'Ethical breeding' is a concept people created not to feel bad about buying dogs, while millions live a miserable life in cages or are euthanised due to lack of space. Until they all find a home, breeding or buying can never be ethical.

Be their voice

Advocate for fostering, shelter volunteering, adopting, and for including animals in wills - on social media, at work, and when you are with family & friends. Each person you inspire will likely go on and change dozens of lives :)

You don't need to do everything. Just SOMETHING.
